Pros

  • 1,500 soccer players from the European League
  • Good audio commentary

Cons

  • Slow graphics
  • Confusing user interface

PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) Manager is a freemium soccer management simulation game developed by Konami.

Team Building and Casual Gameplay

The game starts at the recruitment stage. It offers a large collection of players. Besides 1,500 soccer stars, you have access to a plethora of fictitious players. Recruiting players is a lot of fun. You try to build your dream team as you progress through the game.

You improve your team’s skill through winning matches and earning badges. You can recruit new players using the game points. Also, you have options to purchase badges to upgrade your abilities.

The gameplay is designed to make it accessible to a larger audience. So there are also friendship points, energy balls, and prize draws. It might not be interesting to hardcore soccer enthusiasts, but it makes it easier for casual gamers to pick up the game.

User Interface, Graphics, and Audio Commentary

Konami tried to put a lot of options into one small package, and it shows in the user interface (UI) of the game. The options might work on a desktop game, but it feels cluttered on a mobile interface. You can set up the formation and badges in the menus. But the UI makes it difficult to keep track of all the options.

Also, the 3D graphics on the soccer field is not up to the standard expected from a game of this caliber. The frame rate slows down often and hinders the momentum. However, the audio commentary is well-done.

Conclusion

PES Manager will not satisfy soccer fans who are hardcore gamers. However, it can be fun for casual gamers.
